To put my two bits in here, yes have tried it and used
it often on all sorts of mobs. Nothing seems to
indicate any duration of memory, you are either in its
hate list, or you are not.

Absolutely incorrect. It ERASES the hate list and I
can prove it, on any mob. Don't know where you got
that mixing thing from.

Try this, pick a mob, any mob that doesn't aggro just
by being close to it, beetles for instance. Have your
party attack it for a while til it gets down to like
half health, make it really angry, let the wizard root
and nuke a bit. Now tell them all to stop attacking,
once they do, mesmerize it.
Now stand around and watch, if all it did was mix the
hate list, it will attack somebody in the party once
the stun effect wears off. Instead the mob will wander
off as if nothing had happened.
