so what's more important to a caster, AGI or STA?

i read an article at eq.stratics.com and it suggests that mage type should
put extra point into STA becuz AGI only protects from melee
attacks......there is NO WAY to avoid a magical creature from casting damage
spell on ya(except maybe buffs) so having more HP to take monster's spell is
a good thing.
