I think most of the suggestions are good. I was taken
back by the Ranger comment though as I love my Ranger.

I have only been playing since Jan and don't have a
char above 25 but here is what I did and I am glad I
did.

With all the choices, I could not disect which class
to play so I narrowed it down to 4. YES, 4. I
started and played 4 chars until level 10. Once I got
a good idea of the game as well as how the classes are
different, I started formulating which ones I
preferred based upon my style.

Here are the 4 classes I chose in order of preference.

1. Druid - Halfling Now level 20
2. Ranger - Wood Elf Now level 18
3. Mage - Human Now Level 18
4. Rogue - Halfling Now level 14

You may ask, "man, he still has them even level, after
10th?" I do because I play with 3 other friends and
based upon what they play, I can switch or tailor the
chars to help benefit the group.

Without making this too long, I will sumarize by
stating what others have mentioned.

The single most important question is
"Will you plan on playing solo or in a group?" My
suggestion is to make ONE OF EACH. There are times
when finding a group might be difficult. IE: High Hold
Pass on the orcs......6 fills it. This would be a
good time to break out that Mage or Druid for some
soloing.

Rangers, Palis, etc are hybrids and allow you to get
some casting abilities as a tank type. The great
feature about a ranger is TRACK. With this, you should
be able to solo in your <20 levels. You get a
healing spell and Bind wound.

Visit eq.castersrealm.com for some good strat guides
on each class.

All in all, HAVE FUN, it is a Great Game and did I
mention ADDICTING...?

Enjoy and feel free to ask any question, this group is
Great.
