 </span></blockquote>Shock of Ice does less damage than Firebolt but the mana to damage<br/>
ratio is better.  Also, since it&#39;s a shock spell you don&#39;t have to<br/>
aim.  With the Bolt spell, you need direct line of sight, which can be<br/>
a nuisance in groups (if someone steps in front of the mob while<br/>
you&#39;re already casting you lose the mana but don&#39;t do any damage).  I<br/>
hardly used Firebolt after I got Shock of Ice.  The only times I used<br/>
it is when fighting mobs that resist cold.<br/>
Once you reach level 12 you can get Shock of Lightning, which starts<br/>
at 78 damage.<br/>
