Earth pet is used at higher levels for mages soloing in dungeons. The
ability to root will prevent trains and the large amount of hp makes it a
great tank and allows you to gate away in time if you got trouble.
Furthermore the only non-researchable level 49 pet is earth pet.
Air is used in PVP. It auto invises making you look like a weak wizard and
the ability to stun can prevent the guy from casting spells/gating
away/running away while you kill him. Air elementals are not the best tanks
for you, best tank for you should be earth pet.
Water is best at lower levels because it can do almost as much melee damage
as the earth pet while also nuking at about 1/3 the fire elemental's nuke.
Also immune to poison and disease making them great tanks against
mummies/snakes etc at low levels. Fast health regen = less downtime and
longer ability to last in battle.
Fire is best when kiting. Nuke heavy and let pet do the rest of kiting job
since pet can nuke pretty decently. They are NOT good for clearing hall
trash, that is a earth pet's job since it can root and deal heavy melee
damage.
