Sometimes a weapon with lower delay and lower damage can be better than a high delay high damage weapon. Because with a lower delay you swing more often and I think that increases your skillup chances the more you swing. So even if a weapon with like 50 delay may have a high damage output, if you have a low delay one with lower damage the number of times you hit the mob in the timeframe can equal up to the damage you would do with the higher delay.
Does that make sense?
Oh, and if you are planning to tradeskill at all, you can sharpen rusty weapons, turn them into tarnished weapons and then turn the tarnished weapons into ore used for smithing. It can save some money on buying ore.
