I can honestly say that you're gaming experience will be a lot better in the long run if you take the time to familiarize yourself with the user interface first.  It's highly customizable and once you learn what everything is and the hotkeys and macros to toggle many of the user interface options, you will be far better off in the long run.  Also, the map function is probably one of the most useful tools in the game.  It shows you your location anywhere in the zone.  One thing I will tell you though, turn off height filtering on the map cause if you dont, you will only see the map for your current elevation - NOT the whole zone.  Once you familiarize yourself with the map and the UI, moving around should be no problem.  Then it's just a matter of going around and killing mobs to gain xp and selling loot and before you know it you'll be level 70 and helping new people.

Hey there...

Finally succumbed and bought the "platinum edition" (you may all
laugh derisively now).  I'm level 3, and completely lost.  I'm mainly
a Runescape player, played D & D in my day (yes, I'm an old fart),
and basically I'm looking for help.  I have no idea what the merry
hell I'm doing.

Hi!  Hope to meet you all and talk soon...

Jennifer
