Subject: RE: [EverQuest] Keeping your Mule logged in

I have not had any problems keeping my trader logged in over-night, but here are some general things I check when a program loses connection after a period of time.

Make sure the OS is not set to disable the network card to conserve power.  In XP right-clik on "My Network Places" and choose Properties.  Choose the connection and right-click Properties.  There is a button under the network card that says "Configure", click it.  The last tab usually is Power Management.  Oddly I have found most PC and laptops have "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." enabled.  Not all network cards support this so you may not have the tab.

Make sure your PC is not set to enter suspend or turn off hard drives.  It is under "Power Options" or similar in Control Panel for all versions of Windows.

Don't run anything else that can use bandwidth such as music swapping software, e-mail, Weather Bug, IMs, etc.  Another program may hog enough bandwidth for just a short period to break the link in EQ.  Run "SpyBot Search and Destroy" and/or "Ad-Aware".  They will look for spyware and adware that may be using memory and bandwidth and remove it.  Do a Google search for the program names, they are both free.

Most versions of Windows have the ability to schedule tasks.  Make sure nothing is scheduled to run while you leave EQ on.

In the Bazaar turn down your clipping to the lowest setting.  If you have it set to high and are looking over a crowd I could see you running out of memory possibly.

If you think it's just your trader and not all your chars, I would make a new trader of a different race and class.  Can't think how that would matter really but I have seen programs do sillier things.

Subject: [EverQuest] Keeping your Mule logged in

Hi everyone,

I’m using a broadband cable connection and I’m having trouble keeping my mule/trader logged in while I’m off at work. I can play the game or let any of my other chars sit there without being disconnected but when I let my trader run I get dumped. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions as to help keep a trader up and running all day?
