Subject: RE: [EverQuest] OT: New computer woesThere are lots of ways to troubleshoot and the description you give is somewhat general. A few tips that normally work ok I can offer:Your power supply is likely ok but some part is either misfitted or moved during shipping.First of all, try pushing a bit on all cards and check cpu fan and memory fittings. If all this turns out ok, then start removing stuff, cards, memory modules one by one until it starts.Your worst case scenario that could have happened is that the cpufan shook loose during shipping, you turned on machine and burned your cpu in about 2 secs of power. The description you gave fits this kinda.Good luck...-----Original Message-----

Subject: [EverQuest] OT: New computer woesOk, it's not an EQ question, but there seem to be a few computer savvy folks on this group, so I thought I'd ask a question.
I don't know if many of you are familiar with the independant computer sellers that sell their computers on Ebay? Well, I got a computer this way... (I know, I know...) Anyway, it arrived yesterday, but it will not turn on. It's like it's not getting power. When I hit the power switch, I can see the red light coming on for a sec, so SOME power is getting to it.... but it won't come on. The hubby and I have taken it apart and looked in it, but neither of us really knows enough about computers to tell what might be wrong.
I've emailed the ppl I got it from, but haven't heard back from them yet. (I just emailed them last night, so I'll give them til tomorrow to answer).
I know I haven't supplied a lot of info, but I was just wondering if you guys could throw out some ideas of what could be causing this.
Thanks. :)
The happiness you seek is right where you left it.
