It's a druid ring, nothing more, nothing less.

Not an entirely safe place to port to, either. Feral kodiaks (bears that
hate everyone, even druids) wander through, as do some of the lower level
shardwurms. Just make sure SoW is up. Exit straight out through the opening
in the portal when you get there and run straight northwest through a sort
of valley (levitate is nice, too) until you see a river, then head straight
north along the river. That will lead you to Thurgadin, hidden by the
waterfall, and safety. unless you have made an enemy of the Coldain,
somehow.
