I also believe our arguments will be either well founded or completely off once we find out how much it will cost.

I'm somewhat inclined to agree.   I, however, have not been one to ever complain about Verant or Sony.  I take it with a grain of salt.  I've never been cheated on EQ, I've never had crappy customer service, I enjoy the game, I am an addict.  When I die, I'm temporarily upset, but then I go on and that's that.  I don't blame anyone else for anything.  It gets nothing accomplished.   I understand the reason behind charging for EQIM and if I think it'll enhance my EQ gameplay or help me in any way, then sure, I don't mind forking over the extra cash for it so long as I feel I can afford it.   On rethinking an earlier statement I made about not wanting to pay for it, I look at it from the perspective that AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN Messenger services are free.  They make their money from other things.  If you'll notice they all pretty much carry banners and advertising.  And as with most companies if you don't want the advertising and banners you have to pay extra.   I'm sure if Sony/Verant wanted to EQIM could have banners etc, but that would ruin it for a lot of people so in order to keep it banner free, you're paying for something specific.  That's all.

You could argue it either way, but now I'm inclined to think that if it will enhance my EQ game time, I'll pay for it. Maybe that's me.

I play EQ on and off, and by no means am I addicted, I play when I can afford to play.  But everyone seems to complain about EQ but they still continue to play it all the time.  They say how horrible the company is and how they don’t care about the game.  I think they do care about the game, but all these services, such as the EQIM idea, will cost them money.  They just can’t hand all these things out for free.  Though everyone wants these for free, they just can’t allow these services to go out for free.  Basically for all these extra services, stop complaining about them.  If you don’t like the “expensive extra services”, don’t buy them.  And if you don’t like EQ as a game, don’t play it.  End of story.

That is just semantics....Verant/Sony all the same thing. They have become nothing but a bunch of money grubbers that really don't care about the EQ1 players anymore.

As you may/may not have noticed,  Verants name is nowhere to be found inthe intro anymore.  also,  it is nowhere to be found on the PoP box either.  So,  don't blame Verant,  blame Sony.

Jaggedpine was months ago and yes to all the rest but what have they done for us lately. They led everyone to believe that all the /raid stuff would be free then bam you have to buy POP to get it. New bought spells in POP are Nodrop,etc.. Getting really tired of Verants attitude.

They do give us new zones for free occasionally... Jaggedpine Forest was
a free download on the optional patch only a few months ago. About a
year ago there was The Warrens and Stonebrunt Mountains, and before that
we had Paineel and The Hole.
