Well, I dont trust Verant enough to believe that statement.

As a company working to get as much profit as possible you dont keep a
massive amount of people not doing anything so you can assign them to
projects that may or may not happen. So VI in this case had to hire people
to work with the Stormhammer project. And since its an ambitious project
working with premium customers and making changes in existing codebase this
is my assumption:

You hire new people. New people have to be trained. This means that the old
people cannot be as productive as they were during the training of the new
ones. So when designing new content and features for legends, either

a) the new people have to talk with the old people thus making progress with
old bugs/features/problems slowdown, or

b) the old people move to the stormhammer project speeding that project up
while the new people work with the old servers but at a much slower pace
since they have to learn things first. (and slowing Stormhammer down)

I cant see any other way of training people. The costs for this should be
taken by VI (some by the stormhammer project) and none by the old servers.
But thats not the case (assumption). So all in all , for me its the TIMING
that sucks, fix the problems first, do new stuff later. This is affecting
things it shouldnt affect.

Thats why I dont like this project, it has nothing to do with content,
service or any other yada yada. If it would be about that I would either
move to Stormhammer or simply play another game. But I still like my guild
and the game called Everquest.

And yeah, your prolly right about the coffee breaks ;-)

I'm not saying that they shouldn't fix what's broken. I'm saying don't use
my extra $30/month to fix what i already pay $10 for. If you listen to VI
they claim that non of the non legend servers should suffer anything from
the legend project. If that's true, nor you nor i can claim it is true or
not, then there's nothing to whine about. They will continue to fix shit
like they've done before (yeah right, we all know they are on a 8 hour coffe
brake during workdays).

I dont agree at all.

The product is broken, handle the broken stuff first. Your extra $30 should
go to paying the extra 18 people (there are 19 fulltimers on Stormhammer)
and 1 on each of the other live.

Lets say a car company releases a new model. Customers buy the model looking
at the specifications. After buying it shows up some stuff is broken. Then
sure as hell that company isnt gonna release a convertible model until
faults are fixed.

If the live servers werent there there would be no Stormhammer, dont you get
that? I have no problem with the specs of stormhammer its how Verant is
executing it thats the problem. And lets say my money isnt a factor deciding
which server i play on, thats a cheesy argument.

Tigole got a few good remarks if you ever read what Legacy of Steel says.

Part of the money goes to developing new stuff that is legend only as well.
My extra $30 bux should'nt go to fixing stuff that should be fixed anyways,
my extra $30 should go to making my server better, not anyone elses.. If you
can't afford or want to move to legend then i'm sorry, but it's a bit
pathetic to whine cause some people belive it's worth paying extra for extra
content and a better server.

In theory this sounds good. But the way Verant is executing things it isnt.
I can understand the extra cost in personnel, that should be the factor that
decides price. BUT:

Extra zones for example without delivering the stuff promised in SoL
expansion makes me wanna laugh. Even if the developers are on different
teams, thats not valid. If things are broken, things are broken, whole
company needs to fix things. For example Bazaar.

Also, the cash the legend server generates in comparison to the live server
is very small. (200.000 users a' $10, and 8000 users a' $40 ) do the math.
If people for example start to leave live servers the legends cash isnt
enough to continue to develop Everquest. So:

Legends price should be personnel related not zones. Dynamic (gm involved)
quests sure, but zone development/fixes are for the game asa whole. Verant
is on thin ice with this.

Handle the stuff promised with Luclin first dont give some mumbo jumbo about
different teams. If you cant handle it with current personnel, hire more,
work more, whatever. Solve it.

Wrong. Please read up before you spread your farts =P

The regular servers will be updated as usual, the legend servers will
receive legend specific content that MAY be moved to normal servers after
awhile. They have hired extra staff (among 19 GMs, there hsould be gms
working 24/7 they say) that will ONLY be working with legend so that it
doesn't affect the normal servers.

I've not been online much due to overloaded at work but it seems fun, alot
of nice events and good guilds. It's kinda easy to join a high-end guild
since about 80% of the server is level 60.

It all looks very good so far.

Legend is $40 a month. ALL new content in Everquest will go into Legend
first, and normal servers will suffer because of it, only getting new
updates as they filter out from Legend. The new content and improvements
will obviously come through to regular servers slower than in the past, in
order for Verant to justify the high subscription to Legend and keep those
few elite and rich players interested.

You might gather I dont subscribe to the Legend server :)

Anyone doing the new Legends thing? Looks cool, but the existing game
is still enough for me. How much more are they asking for Legends
access? I never saw a price.
