I would like to hear from one of the developers. I can
see the lack of empty space on the hard disk causing
zoning to slow down. I have exactly 90 MB free on my
disk I run 98 which some times goes crazy paging do to
lack of memory and dick space often causing me to
reboot. I think it is obvious that the Zone time is
dependent on to things. The speed that the machine can
load the new graphics which any of the machines
discussed in this thread should be able to do quickly
except that 166 that someone mentioned. I mean quickly
as in a few seconds not a minute. There is also a
large discrepancy between the reported zoning times
that is so blatantly related to Bandwidth.
My guess is there is probable a hundred K of data that
needs to be transfered when you enter a new zone. I
imagine that the developers used a vector format to
calculate the position of each movable object. But not
only is the position important but also the objects
that affect appearance and the facing of the PC or
NPC.
What I would like to know is what are the zoning
differences like between zones with few or no
characters in them. I have not yet found a zone that
was completely devoid of PCs. I did hit BB once with
only 7 people in it. But then again my zone tiems are
so quick I dont think I would precieve a difference.

have.. i remember that the installation instructions
stated that there is a requirement for a minnimum of
150 mb. Any load times about 30sec between zones
