Subject: RE: [EverQuest] Question about other NPC's killing things.Sorry, it has been many moons since I worried with those pesky Griffins. But your underlying sarcasm and your inflated self worth are duly noted my friend. As a simple test, I went to the town in Crystal Caverns and engaged a few spiders and terrors (I tried the experiment several times.) I would beat then to almost dead and then wait for the wandering guard to come. He would inturn kill the beast. I would in fact gain experience and was able to loot. So Nygaardr, my friend I did not speak without knowledge.-----Original Message-----

Subject: RE: [EverQuest] Question about other NPC's killing things.I guess you have never been killing a Griffin in WC and had it all but dead and have a guard come up and wack it and watch the corpse, your exp and your loot go poof. Funny I have.Mu-----Original Message-----

Subject: RE: [EverQuest] Question about other NPC's killing things.Sorry that's not correct. If the mob has 10,000 hps and you do 9,999 dmg and the guard does the last 1 point, you still wont get any experience and the body will poof. Anytime the guard lands the killing blow your SOL.Mu-----Original Message-----

Subject: RE: [EverQuest] Question about other NPC's killing things. If you do more damage to the creature you will get the experience. But, keep in mind if the creature has 500 hit points and you have done 251 points of damage to it and a guard comes along and hits for 350, you will not get experience for the kill.-----Original Message-----

Well that kinda stinks, but I can see where it can be abused. What happens
if you do more than 50%, and strike the killing blow? I think it hangs
around, but I can't remember if I've had that happen.

When the guard kills it, you get not experience and the mob leaves no
corpse. Its as if the guard had killed it from beginning to end, you
doing over 50% damage doesn't matter. The reason for this is so people
don't just go do alot of damage to mobs and then train them to the guards
to finish the mob off.
