If you do more damage to the creature you will get the experience. But, keep
in mind if the creature has 500 hit points and you have done 251 points of
damage to it and a guard comes along and hits for 350, you will not get
experience for the kill.

Well that kinda stinks, but I can see where it can be abused. What happens
if you do more than 50%, and strike the killing blow? I think it hangs
around, but I can't remember if I've had that happen.

When the guard kills it, you get not experience and the mob leaves no
corpse. Its as if the guard had killed it from beginning to end, you
doing over 50% damage doesn't matter. The reason for this is so people
don't just go do alot of damage to mobs and then train them to the guards
to finish the mob off.
