Mez spells have a fixed duration. Cha only effects the secondary saving
throw on the initial resist.
Charm spells are based to an extent on charisma. If the monster succeeds on
a primary save throw during a charm, then a second roll is done. This
second roll is largely charisma based, and hence a higher charisma will
increase the chance of a longer charm.
