A monk's attacks have a base speed of 30. They are considered the ultimate
melee class because of the damage potential of their special attacks and
their higher skill caps on combat abilities.

I believe the base speed of our animation is a 30. Giving it a store-bought
dagger lowers that to 20, but doesn't lower the damage. Are you really
questioning the wisdom in doing that? Do you ever cast the Quickness line of
spells on your party's tanks? This is, in effect, a free permanent quickness
for your pet that stacks with your Quickness spell.
