Crookstinger always seemed to be around the Orc Camp by the end of a path.
He just sort of wanders through and seems to be a rare spawn as is Old
Dimmshimmer and the queen spider (she is named also).

I killed crookstinger by the Orc Camp (end of path). Wish I had a better
description of the orc camp im talking about but there are only 2 orc camps
ther that I know of. One orc camp is by the Wood Elf camp(thats NOT the
right area).
