The Staff of Writhing will not process until 28th level. Unless you are a die hard melee Necro like I am, then you will not be meleeing anything by then. The Bouncers drop the steins, but I would imagine that they were included in the newbie guard patch. If they were, I doubt anybody is hunting them anymore. I don't know if the guards inside the city drop the stein, but they weren't buffed and are probably still hunted.

Not sure if there's anyone here anymore, but if there is:

I recently had an opporunity to aquire a staff of writhing in exchange for a crude stein. As I'm level 12, the staff won't be proc'ing for quite some time. Also, there are lots of new weapons out there, many with stat enchancing effects. I also have a dragoon dirk.

My options:

use both

sell the dragoon dirk, as the staff is slightly better; what's its current value (I'm on Innoruuk)? guessing-- 50pp?

sell the staff, as I can (probably) get more money for it; what's its current value? guessing--200pp?

second, what's the best way to get another stein? I've heard people hunting bouncers often give them away; what zone are they in? Ferrott? Oggok?
