Most folk I know don't bother with the "practice" research, instead just
using regular research on spells they already have (please give/sell them
to PCs rather than vendors, by the way - help your fellow necro).

To make use of your 60 undead froglog tongues, you'll also need 60 griffon
feathers, 120 pearls, 60 giant fire beetle eyes, and 60 fine steel
slashing weapons. And 120 quills and 120 parchments, but those are cheap.

Since the only one MoB who drops giant fire beetle eyes is rare (queen
Klicknick), and griffon feathers aren't exactly common either, I can't
imagine this level of practice research is better than just making spells
for Necros one or two ranks below you.
