Disclaimer: There's a 99.9% chance I'm wrong about this, so listening to me
would kinda be like a blind leading the blind type of deal. If I'm wrong
about this, just smack me on the arse, call me stupid and go back to work.

That said.

You are absolutely right about the boat waiting after zoning. The PC's
processor is what handles all number crunching, if your processor is faster
than mine, when you zone all non-static information for the zone at the time
will be handled by your PC faster than mine. Of course, there are 3d Cards
that will take pressure off of the processor.
